A quick read, yet very enjoyable romance.

I love a good story which is no-nonsense, contemporary, relatable, and has characters who are not afraid of standing on their own two feet. That is exactly what I got with this book. Romance is a genre which is easy to get wrong. Stereotypes abound, and so many storylines are devoid of any story whatsoever. But not this time.
In The First Night, we have Gannon, who loved Kayla since school days, but he needed to become a man he could respect before he could go looking for his love. Kayla, as well, is an independent young woman who has her head screwed on and works hard to make it in life. She has opinions and her own will, and it is wonderful to see she’s not the type of woman who would simply faint at her hero’s feet.
A well-written, very enjoyable contemporary romance with enough heat to keep you warm on a cold winter’s night. Loved it. I’ll certainly be reading more from this author’s list.

Kayla filled her life with work in between college classes on her way to be a history teacher since she came back to her home town. She had no time at the moment for any male relationship. However, the hot dreams at night says otherwise. Her co-worker Sharon talks Kayla into going the new bar 'Night' on Friday night. As Kayla walks into the bar the sexy bartender catches her attention. Where had she seen him before? Not use to drinking, Kayla all too soon finds herself too drunk to protect herself from almost being taken advance of by a couple that swings when the gorgeous bartender coms to her rescue. The next morning Kayla finds herself in a strange bed nursing one horrible hangover. She staggers out to the kitchen to delicious smelling pancakes being cooked by the bartender. Whoa! What happen last night? Who was he? Why was there was such an sexual attraction to him? Where did she know him from? Why can't she keep her mind off him?

Awesome! I loved this story. The hot sex and sweet romance left a taste blend of delicious lingering in my imagination. Kayla feels trapped in her hometown. When she finds herself waking up with smoking hot bartender Gannon she’s convinced she’s just a one-night stand for the sexy womanizer. Gannon has a secret—he wasn’t always hot. He also knew Kayla when they were in high school. The shy guy cared about her because she was kind. Now she’s there and he’s not sure how to behave. At first, he pushes her away because he’s so used to doing that, but when he realizes he’s hurt her he finds a way to open up. This is very 1-clickable! Don’t pass the story up!
